BIO
OYOBI takes audiences on polyrhythmic journeys using electronic machines, synthesizers, percussion, and bass. Their music is primal, raw, and driven by improvisation, blending electronica, house, jazz, broken beat, and Latin American rhythmic traditions.Consisting Vincent Sebastian (machines, percussion), Adam Ventoura (bass) and Planeface (synths), OYOBI delivers a distinctive live performance that sits between an electronic act and live band. The trio is joined by a cast of guest collaborators, including QVLN and Karen Lee Andrews.Their debut EP Translations was described by legendary producer Osunlade as "a fantastic marriage of an electronic reverence to the sound and rhythm of the ancestors." It reached #1 on the Traxsource charts and was followed by Transcendence on Atjazz Record Company. It was praised by Laurent Garnier as "stunning", reaching #1 on Traxsource and appearing on the acclaimed Late Night Tales compilation.Since then, OYOBI has released music with Defected, Ocha Records, United Records, Groovescooter, and Astral People, while collaborating with artists including Atjazz, Barrio Lindo, Selomi, Oveous, QVLN, Cosmos Midnight, Karen Lee Andrews, and Milan Ring. Their music has also been remixed by internationally respected producers including Atjazz, Coflo, Hallex M, and Aroop Roy.On stage and in studio, OYOBI blurs the boundaries between electronic music and live musicianship, creating immersive performances where rhythm, improvisation, and human connection remain front and centre.
