QUEMAR (OYOBI REMIX)
OVEOUS & QVLN
MOCA ARTS

QUEMANDO translates to 'burning', where in the context of these songs it is a birth from the flames.

With its origins influenced by QVLN's Afro Brazilian roots, Quemando began as a request by OVEOUS to use a section of vocals from QVLN's original song titled 'Burning Fire'. This ignited the creation of the song 'Queimar' which quickly became a worldwide phenomenon amongst the house music community and DJs alike.

Today on the 5 year anniversary of the ever increasing recognition and success of 'Queimar', OVEOUS and QVLN have reached out to their circle of legendary producers worldwide to bring you 'Quemando'.

Remixes from Atjazz, Nickodemus, Ezel, Mike Steva and Oyobi weave together a tapestry of beautiful music that lifts the spirits with the influence of Afro & indigenous rhythms, funk, jazz, house and electronic soul.

VINYL / DIGITAL ALBUM
ATJAZZ RECORDS UK

"As a collective, they’ve raised the bar of electronic Latin-infused jazz to soaring heights" -Martin 'Atjazz' Iverson

No# 1 Traxsource

Transcendence is Oyobi's debut full-length album for which they teamed up with musical maestros Malo Malo, Qvln, Maité Inaé and Aykho who all interject their own secret blend of melodious spices to this luminous body of work.

This rewarding long-player kicks off with the masterfully concocted body-mover, Mi Ritmo. With horns and percussion to die for, what a blinder to start with. With deftly delivered piano and keyboards, Crossroads satisfyingly continues our journey. Do you want it tougher? Then the title track is what you get. The original will not disappoint, nor will ArCo label owner Atjazz’ Galaxy Aart Remix: a take that plays on a sassy guitar hook and a complementary synth line playfully dancing around it. Orula (feat. Qvin) gives a false sense of security, courtesy of its feel-good vocal chants. But there are many more layers to come, including dope percussion, a harder beat and enticing synth lines.

Always save a killer to close with, said no one, but it would be sound advice. Well, that’s what the OYOBI crew have done with Me Voy. Fast-paced congas and rich 70s-esque hats lead into chord jabs, brazen plucked bass and atmospheric strings. A gem of a vocal hook accompanies us throughout the build-up to be met with a bassline holding our groove in place, give or take the odd divine breakdown. The closing jewel to a treasure trove of music.

KALIMBA VIBRATIONS (OYOBI REMIX)
TAKEN FROM ELECTROPICAL PT.4
BY JUAN LAYA & JORGE MONTIEL
IMAGENES RECORDS UK

Electropical Pt.4 takes a deeper excursion into Afro-Latin music to create a unique blend of timeless, acoustic 'Roots' and contemporary leftfield production. This latest instalment of the acclaimed project helmed by Juan Laya & Jorge Montiel, the duo behind the much loved Los Charly's Orchestra, evokes the spirit of the Amazonas forest, the beating heart of their native Venezuela. The sounds are born of the earth and nurtured for the soul. The EP features performances and remixes from longstanding friends and musical allies: Oyobi, who has recently been busy working with none other than AtJazz and Aroop Roy, brings a burst of intensely vibrant energy to Kalimba Vibration while the mighty Andre Espeut lends his utterly distinctive voice to Abstract Fragments Of A Dream. As for multi instrumentalist- producer Kris Houston he puts his signature touch on Beyond Civilizations.

"Mi Ritmo, an awesome Latin-Jazz collaboration with Danny G Felix and Malo Malo and taken from the epic debut album by Australian super-trio OYOBI, entitled TRANSCENDENCE.

Remix detail from OYOBI Producer VINCENT SEBASTIAN who drops a more 4x4 feel to the original song design with great elegance, ROSARIO takes things really deep, super-deep even, seriously, this is such proper deep house!, and last but not least NICOLE TANIA stirs things right up with this modern take where 808 drums lead the way. Something you can really get your teeth into!"-Review Martin Iverson

OYOBI- DONT LET IT GO TO YOUR HEAD
B-SIDE: SE TE VA
"14 months on from the release of their celebrated Translations EP, Oyobi is ready to unleash their latest dancefloor-ready fusion bomb: a colourful cover of Jean Carn's Philly Soul classic 'Don't Let it Go to Your Head'. Featuring super-sweet and soulful lead vocals from Karen Lee Andrews, Oyobi's version is warm, musically intricate and fluid, re-imagining the Carn classic as a Latin-infused broken soul gem rich in timbales, twinkling pianos and jaunty Clavinet stabs. Over on the flip they revert to type with 'Se Te Va', an infectious and heavyweight fusion of low-slung disco bass and percussion-rich salsa rhythms." -Review: Juno UK
"It’s nothing short of sublime. It’s a Latin-infused, dancefloor-ready track that feels like it was destined to soundtrack a pivotal scene in Pulp Fiction. " Tone Deaf, The Brag.
